Farmhouse breakfast week

Farmhouse Breakfast Week

Farmhouse Breakfast Week is run by HGCA, the cereals and oilseeds sector of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, on behalf of cereal farmers and producers.  The campaign started in the year 2000 with the aim of encouraging consumers to regularly eat a healthy balanced breakfast and reduce the number of breakfast skippers by educating people about the health benefits.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week takes place annually at the end of January.  The theme is "Shake Up Your Wake Up" which aims to encourage consumers to re-think their morning routine and make time for breakfast.

Campaign key messages are:

  • Breakfast benefits you and your family and can make you healthier and happier
  • Breakfast eaters tend to be slimmer than breakfast skippers
  • There are breakfast options to suit all tastes and lifestyles

Get involved:

Everyone can get involved with Farmhouse Breakfast Week - schools, caterers, retailers, restaurants, hotels, farmers and consumers can all help celebrate the most important meal of the day.  Visit to find out how you can take part.
