Low input herbage trials

Published 5 June 14

Funded by DairyCo and EBLEX, NIAB are currently investigating how different perennial ryegrasses perform under differing nitrogen inputs.

Trials have been established at NIAB Dartington, NIAB Harper Adams and NIAB Headley Hall, under a three-year harvesting programme. The study involves six intermediate perennial ryegrasses managed under varying levels of nitrogen inputs (100, 200 and 400 kg N per ha).

This short summary sheet gives details of the trial and preliminary results.
