Precision farming

Aims and Objectives
Precision farming techniques have been used extensively across the arable sector to assist with yield mapping, nutrient application and soil analysis however, to date there has been little uptake of these technologies in the grassland sector. The application of these technologies to dairy farmers however, remains unclear and poorly evaluated. This study aims to examine the application and use of a selection of precision farming technologies to dairy farms here in GB.

Expected outcomes
The project will provide information on the applications of current precision farming techniques in dairy farming systems. The project will highlight some of the challenges and opportunities available for these techniques within the sector.
