LINK: Harnessing new technologies for sustainable oat production and utilisation (QUOATS)

Aims & Objectives
To employ state-of-the-art DNA marker technologies to develop marker toolkits associated with key traits that will increase the sustainable production and utilisation of oats,  appropriate for human and livestock consumption in the UK.

Expected Outcomes

  •  The project will develop oats that,

    • Meet the needs of the milling industry and are tailor-made for the healthy foods market
    • Provide a high energy animal feed that may also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from animal production
    • Provide important platform chemicals for the plastics, cosmetics and food industry
