GB milk production update: week ended 18 May

Published 29 May 19

GB milk deliveries averaged above 37.2m litres per day in the week ending 18 May 2019. This is down from the week before, confirming we have moved past the peak. Following the recent peak, milk deliveries have declined, sitting closer to previous years.

Milk deliveries have remained above 37m litres since early April. The peak was well above the three-year average and reached earlier than forecast. Favourable spring weather conditions enabled many herds to be out on pasture early, and good grass growth has supported yields.

Average grass growth rates for the week ending 25 May are up on last year, tracking typical seasonal patterns.
