UK receives additional cheese PSA allowance

Published 19 February 16

Unused volume allowances for cheese Private Storage Aid (PSA) have been shared out between Member States, with the UK receiving an additional 8,669 tonnes. This is the third largest portion of the 68,123 tonnes that was re-allocated. The largest volumes went to Italy (27,025 tonnes) and the Netherlands (16,526 tonnes).

The reallocations have been split between Member States that notified the European Commission they would like to make further use of PSA for cheese. The new volumes are based on the quantities each nation had applied to use before the scheme’s initial deadline of 15 January.

The cheese scheme has also been extended until 30 September 2016, in-line with the recent extensions for butter and SMP PSA.
