The Victorian government in Australia has announced a new series of measures to support the state’s dairy farmers who account for 70% of Australia’s dairy farms. Overall, this latest package is valued at approximately £3.8m. The funds are targeted towards improving support for young families in the dairy industry and retraining those who want to leave the industry. In addition, part of the funds are also targeted towards dairy development grants and targeted dairy technical support.

Overall, the Victorian government’s dairy support package is now worth almost £7.8m with other measures announced in May of this year, while the Australian dairy industry has contributed about £3m to support farmers.
