Congratulations to all the finalists of the 2016 Farmers Weekly Awards.

The 3 finalists for 2016 Dairy Farmer of the Year are:

Geoff Sayers, Devon
Geoff oversees 1,900 cows across five farms in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, producing about 10m litres/year of organic milk. As well as 1,620ha of organic farmland, Geoff’s business includes an organic dairy brand, an organic meat company and luxury cottages.

Mark Verity, Lancashire
Mark manages 375 dairy cows on 283ha near Clitheroe. Continuous investment in technology and efforts to streamline the business have left him in strong position financially despite low milk prices.

David, Paul and Richard Baynes, Northumberland
David, Paul and Richard Baynes manage 150 cows on 110ha in Hexham. They process and market more than half of the milk produced, selling milk and cream under their Northumbrian Pedigree brand to shops, cafes and restaurants in the North East.
