British consumers spend more on cheese but volumes fall.

Total expenditure on cheese increased by 1.8% to £2.81 billion in the year to February 2015 driven by an increase in average price.  Over the same period, consumers bought less cheese compared to the previous year leading to an overall decline in volumes sold of 1.3%.

Within the category, only soft continental cheese saw a year on year increase in volume sold, up by 3.8% on the previous year.
