On Wednesday 3 December, Dairy Pro Chairman David Cotton gave a submission to the Dairy All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) about the progress Dairy Pro has made since its launch in 2012 and the role it now plays in the training and development of dairy farmers. The goal of this APPG session was to showcase the achievements and strengths of the dairy industry in terms of training and skills from farm to supermarket shelves. A series of meetings and visits will form the Dairy APPG, which will debate the key issues for the industry.

Dairy Pro – A Developing Scheme

David Cotton told the group that Dairy Pro membership numbers are growing and are now approaching 800 members. Over 90 training partners UK wide have registered with the scheme.

The Dairy Pro website is a valuable tool to alert members to matters of interest; Industry Training Partners register events/training, with Dairy Pro populating an events calendar, providing a dedicated place for the dairy industry (farmers and training organisers) to view upcoming open events.

One recent important development is the recognition given by Red Tractor to Dairy Pro, via a new training recommendation in the RT dairy standards, where Dairy Pro is named as a method to achieve the recommendation.
