In the 52 weeks ending 21 April 2019,

  • The total volume of yogurt sold is up on the year before, with spend increasing by 4.5%. A 0.5% rise in average price has contributed to this rise in total spend
  • Looking at specific products, big pot plain yogurts enjoyed the largest volume growth (+14.6%), followed by luxury yogurts (+13.5%)
  • Volume sales of fat free, split pots, standard yogurts and yogurt drinks fell year-on-year, however fat free and yogurt drinks remain the bestselling yogurt categories
  • Branded products still claim the majority of total yogurt volume sales; however, the share of private label yogurts continues to increase
  • Hard discounters continue to eat into the market share of the top 4 multiples, now accounting for 18% of the total market
